Will a tyre track ell bury its self when it dies?

I was wondering this because I have had 2 for a year now and one has disappeared as well I have 2 Cory cat fish in the tank and one of the was looking quite big I was wondering if it ate the ell (because it is the smaller of the 2 ells that died) as well I was wondering if the ell buries its self because I cant find it and if it does I need to get it out of the tank
